ABOUT US

Located in Los Angeles, the Westside Youth Orchestra’s goal is to provide a well-rounded orchestral experience to musically dedicated young musicians between 8 and 18 years of age. Orchestra members learn the art of ensemble playing, sight reading, the language of music, and performance. Westside Youth Orchestra members prepare for each concert season utilizing the vast library of orchestral literature from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary and Film Score repertoire. Most importantly, our young musicians take pride in their enjoyment of making music together! Concert season performances are at Park Century School in Culver City, West Los Angeles.

WEEKLY REHEARSALS

Weekly rehearsals prepare the orchestra for the seasons concert performances. The orchestra is open to students who play violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, flute, piccolo, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, Baritone (Euphonium), tuba, and percussion.

MUSICAL INTEGRITY

Members of the Westside Youth Orchestra work towards the highest level of musical integrity, respect for fellow musicians, self-discipline and teamwork. Their repertoire includes works of Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak, Rossini, Offenbach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and more.

Westside Youth Orchestra is proud to have received Silver Awards from the Heritage Festivals Youth Orchestra Competitions, Southern California, in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and, 2016. In 2012, the WYO was presented with a Silver Award, a Maestro Award, and a Most Outstanding Orchestra Group Trophy.
